Key Features

Below are the standard key features of a Rolt Dryers.

  1. The Rolt tower dryers save a great amount of space.

  2. The material is held to a vertical conveyor and it is therefore possible to use powerful jet blast air drying among other methods

  3. Heater power is regulated with ‘proportional integrating, differentiating’ heat control, which ensures a steady flow of drying air at the set-point temperature.

  4. A proportion of the hot air is recirculated.

  5. The towers can be fitted with web tracking equipment which enable the dryer to run thin substrates.

  6. The dryer has independent speed controls, so the drying can be matched to conditions – the rest of the machine automatically adjusting to keep pace with it.

  7. Different jet boxes provide for hot air drying as well as for cold air conditioning of the material. A cooling section can be provided to reduce the heat retained by the material.

  8. All the dryers have features for economy, can be used in multiples and have different arrangements for heating and flow.

  9. Back heat, front heat, regulation by solvent evaporation, IR, and baking oven versions are all standard options.

  10. All the dryers can be fitted with UV or IR.

596 Snail Dryer

596 A specialised, very long exposure, snail dryer with a maximum drying temperature 130°C.

Product Overview

The design of the Rolt 596 dryer necessitates the integration of a re-winder in the middle of the ‘snail’ dryer.  Standard Rolt loop controls are fitted to the dryer.

The dryer is built on a strong machine frame, has a fully insulated skin to minimise heat loss to the surrounding atmosphere, and has stainless steel cladding on the outside.

Temperature set-point range from ambient to 130°C .  The air heaters are independently controlled to an accuracy of ± 1°C .

Precision temperature control of the web, nozzles and air flow ensure consistent and even distribution of heat across the web consistently.

Heater elements of 16kW are fitted inside the dryer.  Air flow is cascaded through the dryer to save the heating required to maintain temperature at set-point and thus saves energy.

External air feed to the dryer is used to avoid using clean room air. The dryer is designed to run with a negative internal pressure to avoid leaks.

The dryer is fitted with a 150mm (6”) solvents exhaust line at 300 cfm controlled by a flap valve.

The printed web winds three times around inside the dryer before exiting at the centre where the vacuum splicing table and rewind are placed.  The total drying length through the dryer is 25m (82’).

An AC type static bar is installed at the dryer exit.
